Het Gezin by Chris Elffers
The work symbolizes the connection between a family that a homeless person might be missing, but at the same time it’s also maybe a cherished memory of the past. somebody might be feeling safe by seeing this sculpture.

This work literally means "carry each others burdens". It could be a support to somebody being homeless by knowing that there is people who want to help with carrying the burden. To know that we don’t have to face this world by ourselves.

The 'H' represents the homeless people, within their own bubble. As these people are drawn together, they create a network of bubbles. They are close, but not yet as one group. By bringing them together they create one large bubble of people.
History & Hope

Looking at the city centre, from Willem de Kooning to Hofplein, there are lots of statues of historical figures. These stand as a symbol for hope, as Rotterdam has had many struggles throughout the years, but always came out on top.

By creating a route along these statues, you can get a sense of hope and feel as if you’re not alone in this battle.

Inspiration

Many of the sculptures have inspiring quotes/aspects that can be beneficial for the homeless. Some texts within the sculptures can give motivation or hope, the same as some sculptures can give the feeling of interaction. For example, sculptures of people, animals or very colorful and bright pieces.
